Rose as a symbol of love, a short history

People have considered the rose as a symbol of love for centuries. It’s speculated that it started in Greek mythology, with the Goddess of Love- Aphrodite.

Aphrodite was so in love with a mortal hunter named Adonis that she did everything to protect him. It didn’t end well however as the bore that was sent to gore him successfully killed him. Just as he was about to die, she tried to rush in to save him.

As she dashed to him on the ground, her foot got pricked by a white rose thorn and her blood seeped into the rose and turned it a vibrant red. Ever since then, the rose became a symbol of passionate, romantic love. If you take no intertest in this quote, find more gardening quotes here.

Roses have indeed been symbols of love for centuries. But what makes a rose so unique is not its colors, nor its scent, but its thorns.

A rose has thorns to protect itself from predators. But considering the thorns, people still regard the rose as one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. After all, it’s not the thorns that people see, but the flower. When you notice the thorns, you won’t reach for the flower. But when you see the flower, you won’t bother with the thorns.

This can be applied in real life as well. We often create walls to keep others away. It is no way to make us weak, in fact, it’s good proof that we’re human. It’s not these walls- these so-called imperfections that your loved ones see; they see you as you. The entirety of YOU.

Remember that no one is perfect. Even a rose has thorns, so stop pleasing people, stop overthinking, and learn that your imperfections make you whole. After all, is said and done, things are what they are, or a rose is a rose.
